Welcome to the first of many favorite Fridays! Every Friday I will post an image that is one of my favorites. These images may not always be the perfectly posed images( In fact most of them won't be), but they are the moments that made me smile or cry during editing.
So come back every Friday and check out some of my favorite images and the story behind them!
I have been capturing Natalie and her family for a few years now. By far Brooks makes me work for my money every time. I love his craziness and energy. It gives me the best candid moments like this one. I told him to give Mom a big hug and he ran and about knocked Mom and sister over. It made for one of my favorite family photos. Never lose that spirit Brooks!
Over the years i have done many shots of Bridesmaids getting a surprise first look with the Bride. This however was my first surprise first look with the Groomsmen. When Nathalie asked to do a first look with the guys I said "Absolutely". The guys knew the assignment and gave us a perfect reaction!
It was windy on Amanda and Zach's wedding day. When I say windy I mean you would have thought it was hurricane season in Florida. Amanda was so worried about the girls hair and her veil and I knew it was making her anxious, Well we got through the ceremony and photos and yes they all had wind swept hair. However once the ceremony was over and the anxiety subsided I caught Amanda waiting to be introduced into the reception laughing and enjoying the moment with the coordinator.
You can't control the weather on your wedding day but enjoying the moments and smiling through is the best way to beat it.
Every once in awhile when I am photographing children I get a little that just is not having it. This image is a great example of that. During the session this little guy was not happy. He cried almost the whole time. Nothing I tried got him to stop crying. After some time Mom and Dad said enough and whatever I had captured would be good enough. Sadly I walked back to the car and went through the photos to see if I had gotten anything good. I had actually but none with just him alone.
I looked up and right outside the car window he started throwing leaves and was having the time of his life. I snapped on my long lens and got out of the car. Mom saw me and we both smiled. Little guy saw me but the joy of Mom and Dad throwing leaves made him not care I was there. With that I ended up with amazing photos of him laughing and smiling. This is just one of them. The walk back to my car after that was a happy one.
It was a very rainy day when I took this photo. Everyone was worried(they were getting married on a yacht) and I thought let's have some fun to wash away the gloom. We did the normal Bridesmaids on the bed and then I said "Okay everyone up and jump on the bed." The girls gave me an unsure look and within seconds they were smiling and laughing. It still rained the rest of the day but this moment relaxed everyone a bit and we had a great day!
The Scottish oops is what I call this one. The Grooms Dad was handing off the rings and the pathway was steep and narrow. Dad almost slipped and let out a very Scottish "Sh*t!" which sent us all into a laughing fit.
